Recording for this project wrapped up on January 3, 2020. We were dreaming then of coastlines and sea breezes, anything to escape winter. At that time there was reason to think that an escape from winter was possible. That something as routine as travel was possible. The pandemic changed that thinking, of course. Erased whole categories from life’s list of options. Time passed. A month into isolation, at a low moment, I found the session files. Hit play with some apprehension, because you never really know what happened back there in the past. In the before, when things were different. Turns out that when we set up to record live at Rittenhouse Soundworks, the spirit of summer was there with us. Hanging out in the big room. Breathing warmth into the notes and the spaces between them. We hope you enjoy these Scenes From The Summer We’re Not Having......
